Just when I think these guys were doing it major, they take it up a notch! Big congrats to the Far East Movement fam for their EPIC performance on the 2011 Billboard Music Awards last night with Ryan Tedder from One Republic and Big Snoop D-O Double G!
All Star Weekend Re-Cap…Kavikas w/ Dj Sourmilk, After Partying w/ Far East Movement
by DJ A_Ron on Feb.24, 2011, under A_RON TV, Nightlife
So the 2011 NBA All Star weekend madness is finally over. I didnt really hit any of the major parties, I know hitting Hollywood would be wayyy to much chaos for me to handle, especially with the rain. I was fortunate enough though to close the weekend out with a bang, and linked up with the homies Far East Movement in Pasadena, who also had a pretty epic weekend themselves performing “Rocketeer” with Miguel (All I Want/Sure Thing) on TV for the NBA All Star slam dunk competition. In case you missed it…
SATURDAY
Dj Sourmilk (Power 106/LA Leakers) and I were at Kavikas in Long Beach for the big bro Dj Orion One’s birthday. I thought the turn out wouldn’t be as dope as its been due to the rain and All Star Weekend, but I was wrong! The placed packed out quick and for a sec I thought “Are we still in Long Beach or Hollywood?” I warmed up the tables for the big homie Sourmilk and he jumped on at Midnight and shut the place DOWN!

Its been a minute since I’ve seeen Milk, let alone spin together, so it was definitely a fun night! I remember when I first met Milk a few years back. I used to throw an event in Riverside on Wednesday nights with some other dj friends of mine, and I thought of having Milk come through and guest dj since I heard he was from the I.E. At the time he was spinning at Power only on the weekends. He came thru and shut the spot down like he always does!
SUNDAY
I missed the All Star game cause I was stuck at work at The Block, but I watched it on Twitter, lol. It was only right that the West win since we were in the West Coast! After I got off work, I headed to Pasadena to link up with FM at their party in Pasadena with Felli Fel. Since I hadn’t hit up any All Star parties all weekend, I had to go check out the homies in Pasadena. Plus, it was in Pasadena, and all the hoodrats were all in Hollywood anyways. Got to Ixtapa Cantina around the same time Virman did so I walked in with him, the place was already BANANAS! I overheard one of the door men telling some people it was $40 to get in tonight, and I was like Dayyymmm! Do they even charge that much for a regular night in Vegas? Walked up to the upstairs VIP and saw the guys, they were surprised to see me there since I haven’t seen them in a minute! What was dope too was the first thing they said to me before even a “Hi” was “Yo Congrats on the baby!” That was love right there! I was supposed to go check them out when they performed up in Big Bear with J. Cole for a Power 106 event last Sunday but that morning my girl had contractions which obviously resulted in my baby girl Laniah being born, lol but that’s another blog. Back up in VIP bottles were popping left and right and they handed me a glass of champagne and tried to blend in lol.

Saw the homie Dj Los in the building!

I ran into Yesi Ortiz (Power 106) up in VIP but wasnt sure if she remembered me. When I used to DJ for New Boyz, we did a show for Shiekh Shoes at the Knitting Factory and she hosted the event. When I mentioned the event she was like “Ohh yeeah, you used to have a big ole Mohawk!” Lol Damn I miss that thing sometimes!

They went on at midnight and completely tore the roof off of the place! I haven’t seen them perform since their show at the Key Club a few months ago and at this time I hadn’t the All Star performance yet, so I didnt know what to expect. They had a dude on keys now and they re-vamped Rocketeer with Virman drumming on the turntables in the intro and Proh was on Keys too! Shit was reeeediculous! The promoter, Juan Franco jumped on the mic after their performance and said that was the best performance they’ve ever had there!

I spoke to the guys after and I joked with Kev (Nish) “Yo, its crazy how 2 years ago, yall were at All Star in Arizona and people thought you guys were Jabbawockeez, and thought J (Spliff) was Steve Aoki! Now yall are doing it major performing on TV for All Star Weekend!” And then Kev laughed and said “We still get that!”
Felli Fel hopped on the mic and introduced Baby Bash, who came up and did a quick impromptu performance and helped make sure the roof wasn’t coming back on that place!

When he did his new single “Go Girl” I thought the whole building was gonna collapse! Big ups to the Far East Movement fam and Dj Virman for a dope night!

Far East Movement @ Key Club… After partying @ Party Rock Wednesdays @ Drais
by DJ A_Ron on Nov.05, 2010, under Nightlife
Last night was definitely on some movie shit! Headed to the Key Club in Hollywood to catch the homies, Kev Nish, Proh, J-Spliff, and Virman aka Far East Movement’s welcome home show in LA, after their 2 month tour with Mike Posner. When we walked up, the line was literally wrapped around the building and down the block for a venue with a 200+ capacity! Luckily we didn’t have to wait in the treacherous line and pretty much got to just walk right in. I felt bad for the 700+ people that had to wait in the line though and had to get told by the door man that nobody else was going to be able to get in.
The place was absolutely bananas when we got inside! Wall to wall packed! They were just about finishing “Like A G6″ when we got in and they went into “Go Ape” which is a crazy party joint featuring Lil Jon, and they ended with their new banging radio single “Rocketeer”.

Heres a quick Twitvid of “Rocketeer” performance
After the show we headed downstairs to the lounge to meet up with the guys, they were doing a meet and greet with some radio winners. I even ran into the big homie Ben Baller walking around amongst the crowd after the show. Always good running into that guy, we were going back and forth on twitter earlier in the day talking about my hair, he asked if my Mohawk was still “taller than Pau Gasol” LOL and I had to break the bad news that I had parted ways with it
After talking with the guys, they invited us to go party with them at Drais at the W. I knew shit was gonna get real crazy over there since the LMFAO Party Rock fam throws their Party Rock Wednesdays party there.
We pulled up to the W and walked into Drais, the guys were immediately bombarded with a TMZ camera man asking them stupid questions like “So what kind of things do your fans throw on stage for you guys?” WTF?!
When we walked into Drais, I felt like I just crash landed on a whole another planet! I looked over at Virman and said “Man, I feel like im on aother planet right now!” and he goes “You are!” Lol, classic line of the night! I knew it was gonna be bananas over here but I didn’t expect it to be on this level! Everbody was rockin out, decked in Party Rock gear, a live percussionist was gettin it in on stage, and everybody who was anybody was standing on top of the furniture waving their bottles in the air. We walked over to the table where birthday boy Jon from the Strereotypes was wildin out with the rest of the Stereotypes fam. Right next to their table was Ian Fletcher (LMFAO’s road manager), said wassup to him and the homie Q (LMFAO’s hypeman) was goin bonkers with his referee whistle! Lol! Then Red foo grabs the mic and yells “FAR EAST MOVEMENT IS IN THE BUILDING!!!” and the whole place shook like a 7.8 earthquake! Literally the floor was shaking, I thought this bitch was gonna give out below us!
Red Foo comes over and introduces the guys and begins chanting “EVERYBODY!! SHOTS SHOTS SH SH SHOTS SHOTS!!”
Kev says Happy Birthday to Jon Street of The Stereotypes and introduces “Like A G6″
I felt like I was in a movie at Drais last night, just wildin out and partying with the homies of Far East Movement and The Stereotypes! Its been a long time coming for those guys and they are finally on the top of the world! Still humble dudes too, like the very first time I met them at their International Secret Agents concert back in 08. Congrats to Kev, Proh, J-Spliff, and Virman as well as Ray, Jon, and Jeremy from The Stereotypes!
