A DJ QUIK/DO OVER/BIG SEAN WEEKEND
by DJ A_Ron on Aug.30, 2011, under Nightlife
TUESDAY
My week started on as usual on Tuesday at the radio show, this week we had the homies Christian from GLK Clothing out of the hometown Victorville, and Flip Major who came and WORLD PREMIERE his newest release “Streetlights” featuring Kris Ivory.
Christian from GLK

Flip Major

THURSDAY
Kicked it at the station all day on Thursday, had a awesome Flava Unit Staff meeting catered by some good ole fashion Southern BBQ!

And after, hung out in the studio to see my Rookie Squad broham Tito (Nacho) aka Mr. Employee of the Month! Do his thug thizzle on the airwaves!

FRIDAY
Friday I worked an event for the station in Long Beach at the Boy’s & Girls club out there. It was definitely an intersting event filled with a bunch of over energectic, dougie lovin, little kids. All in all it was a fun experience and everyone thought I was DJ E-MAN on the school folders we were handing out!

Check the little black kid on the bottom right gettin it!

SATURDAY
Saturday I got called by my good friend Jessie D to shoot some A_RON TV footage for her boyfriend’s birthday party, and one of the industry’s biggest managers in the game, Jaime Adler. The event took place at Club Nokia at LA Live which was right upstairs from DJ QUIK & SUGAFREE’s show.

I was not mad at the ALL ACCESS pass to the show I got too! Thanks Jessie & Jaime!

Quik x Suga free

It was definitely a dope show & I was trippin out that I was able to see it up close and on stage! After the concert, we headed to an after party for Jaime a few blocks down at the Water Marke Towers in the same building where Sean Kingston just moved in. The place was un real! I wish I could’ve got some pics from my BB but my battery ended up dying!! SMH. Look out for the A_RON TV video tho coming out soon!
SUNDAY FUNDAY
Sunday was definitely on some movie type sh*t! Was kinda bummed that I wasn’t able to attend the VMA’s this year but by the looks of it on twitter, I didn’t miss much. Started off the afternoon at the DO OVER in Hollywood. Since there are only 2 left, I didn’t feel too bad about not going to the VMAs, I had to make sure I attend these last 2 for sure! I’ve been going to the DO since about 5 weeks ago, and it gets crazier every week. Theres definitely no party out there like the Do Over. Its a perfect way to end your summer week!
This weeks special guest was DJ MELO D from the Beat Junkies. This was the 2nd time getting to hear Melo do his thang, the 1st was at Reflex’s birthday in March at Supper Club. Sunday’s set was extra special though since it was dedicated to the late great DJ AM, who passed exactly 2 years ago that day.

After the Do Over, I headed over to Playhouse to check out my dude Just-N-Credible spin at BIG SEAN’s VMA Party. It was straight BANANAS!! Special appearances by Ne-yo, Ty$, Kevin Hart, J Cole, Young Jeezy, and plenty of fine dime brizzles everywhere! Seriously, this party definitely made me admire my fine caramel & light skinned colored females on a whole another level! Lol!
My boy Just-N-Credible shut the club down on the turntables!

On my way out I ran into BIG SEAN and congratulated him on his Best New Artist nomination

Even tho Tyler won, Sean tweeted:
“I got the best award ever. That’s having so many loyal people who fux w/ me. I fux wit y’all back”
Definitely a humble dude forreal. Can’t wait to see what else he’s got up his sleeve in the future!
Another busy week ahead of me! Tune in to my radio show tonight on www.RosewoodRadio.com at 8pm (pst) and rock with me yall!

WEEKLY RECAP: Dj Reflex bday at Supper Club, LA/ Japan fundraiser at Lucky Strike / Dodgers
by DJ A_Ron on Apr.05, 2011, under A_RON TV, Nightlife
TUESDAY
On Tuesday, the homie Dj Reflex celebrated his 30th birthday at Supper Club in LA. If anyone has ever been to a Dj Reflex birthday party, especially in the last 3 years, you know that he definitely knows how to throw a party, and he’s full of suprises too. He’s had a number of a-list celebs in attendance at his parties, from Leonardo DiCaprio, to Lady Gaga, Heavy D, to Common and Kanye. This years theme was “It’s A Movie” and it definitely was nothing less than that!
When I arrived at Supper Club, I was greeted by a life sized cut-out of Reflex at the entrance!

Walked inside the club, It was nothing like I expected! It was a big theatre style club, everything was white, with a huge projector screen behind the dj booth.

“Im your Pushaaaa!” Pusha T in the building!

Big shoutout to Juan G & Obed (CSG) as well

The birthday boy himself

Heres a video from A_RON TV of the night
DJ E-MAN warmed up the night

& DJ MELO-D shut it down after!

THURSDAY
Thursday was the day of the Japan Relief fundraiser I dj’d for at Lucky Strike in Downtown LA. Shout out to the homegirl Kary Leigh for setting everything up & inviting me to play! I told her I wouldnt do it unless I got to spin next to my brothers Dj Element & Dj Ryan Live (aka Eyrro). I opened up the night at 8pm, Element followed after, and then Dj Edrick_A & Ryan Live closed out the night! It was a chill night and it raised money for a good cause.

SUNDAY
Sunday I attended my first ever Dodger game! It was definitely a fun experience! I felt like I was on another planet being inside Dodger’s stadium with all them hardcore Dodger fans! I got love for the Bay but that day it was all about the Dodgers, and it showed when they scored within 10 mins of the 1st inning and finished the game victorious!

These Dodger Dogs made me break Lent! =(

Yadida!??

Rihanna’s ex, Matt Kemp up to bat

Right after they won!

That was my week yall! Another crazy week ahead! Stay tuned! Have a Blessed week!

All Star Weekend Re-Cap…Kavikas w/ Dj Sourmilk, After Partying w/ Far East Movement
by DJ A_Ron on Feb.24, 2011, under A_RON TV, Nightlife
So the 2011 NBA All Star weekend madness is finally over. I didnt really hit any of the major parties, I know hitting Hollywood would be wayyy to much chaos for me to handle, especially with the rain. I was fortunate enough though to close the weekend out with a bang, and linked up with the homies Far East Movement in Pasadena, who also had a pretty epic weekend themselves performing “Rocketeer” with Miguel (All I Want/Sure Thing) on TV for the NBA All Star slam dunk competition. In case you missed it…
SATURDAY
Dj Sourmilk (Power 106/LA Leakers) and I were at Kavikas in Long Beach for the big bro Dj Orion One’s birthday. I thought the turn out wouldn’t be as dope as its been due to the rain and All Star Weekend, but I was wrong! The placed packed out quick and for a sec I thought “Are we still in Long Beach or Hollywood?” I warmed up the tables for the big homie Sourmilk and he jumped on at Midnight and shut the place DOWN!

Its been a minute since I’ve seeen Milk, let alone spin together, so it was definitely a fun night! I remember when I first met Milk a few years back. I used to throw an event in Riverside on Wednesday nights with some other dj friends of mine, and I thought of having Milk come through and guest dj since I heard he was from the I.E. At the time he was spinning at Power only on the weekends. He came thru and shut the spot down like he always does!
SUNDAY
I missed the All Star game cause I was stuck at work at The Block, but I watched it on Twitter, lol. It was only right that the West win since we were in the West Coast! After I got off work, I headed to Pasadena to link up with FM at their party in Pasadena with Felli Fel. Since I hadn’t hit up any All Star parties all weekend, I had to go check out the homies in Pasadena. Plus, it was in Pasadena, and all the hoodrats were all in Hollywood anyways. Got to Ixtapa Cantina around the same time Virman did so I walked in with him, the place was already BANANAS! I overheard one of the door men telling some people it was $40 to get in tonight, and I was like Dayyymmm! Do they even charge that much for a regular night in Vegas? Walked up to the upstairs VIP and saw the guys, they were surprised to see me there since I haven’t seen them in a minute! What was dope too was the first thing they said to me before even a “Hi” was “Yo Congrats on the baby!” That was love right there! I was supposed to go check them out when they performed up in Big Bear with J. Cole for a Power 106 event last Sunday but that morning my girl had contractions which obviously resulted in my baby girl Laniah being born, lol but that’s another blog. Back up in VIP bottles were popping left and right and they handed me a glass of champagne and tried to blend in lol.
Crowd view from upstairs

View of the stage

Saw the homie Dj Los in the building!

I ran into Yesi Ortiz (Power 106) up in VIP but wasnt sure if she remembered me. When I used to DJ for New Boyz, we did a show for Shiekh Shoes at the Knitting Factory and she hosted the event. When I mentioned the event she was like “Ohh yeeah, you used to have a big ole Mohawk!” Lol Damn I miss that thing sometimes!

They went on at midnight and completely tore the roof off of the place! I haven’t seen them perform since their show at the Key Club a few months ago and at this time I hadn’t the All Star performance yet, so I didnt know what to expect. They had a dude on keys now and they re-vamped Rocketeer with Virman drumming on the turntables in the intro and Proh was on Keys too! Shit was reeeediculous! The promoter, Juan Franco jumped on the mic after their performance and said that was the best performance they’ve ever had there!

I spoke to the guys after and I joked with Kev (Nish) “Yo, its crazy how 2 years ago, yall were at All Star in Arizona and people thought you guys were Jabbawockeez, and thought J (Spliff) was Steve Aoki! Now yall are doing it major performing on TV for All Star Weekend!” And then Kev laughed and said “We still get that!”
Felli Fel hopped on the mic and introduced Baby Bash, who came up and did a quick impromptu performance and helped make sure the roof wasn’t coming back on that place!

When he did his new single “Go Girl” I thought the whole building was gonna collapse! Big ups to the Far East Movement fam and Dj Virman for a dope night!

New Boyz talk with B95′s John Magic about Mixtapes, producing, & “Back Seat”
by DJ A_Ron on Jan.11, 2011, under A_RON TV, Behind the scenes
I got a text from the big homie John Magic up at B95 in Fresno last Friday telling me that the homies, The New Boyz were live in studio with him and they showed me some love on air! So I grabbed the flip cam and had to record it for yall. They also talk about their mixtapes they just realesed, their seperate indie labels: Rule Blind (Legacy) and Club 100 (Ben J.), and they world premiered their new single off of “Too Cool To Care” called “Back Seat” produced by The Cataracs (Like A G6) featuring Dev. Big shouts to John Magic, Ben J., Legacy, Gennis, and Tool!
A_RON TV makes it to World Star Hip Hop
by DJ A_Ron on Dec.07, 2010, under Appearances, A_RON TV
Last September, I was invited by the homie Ukon to shoot some behind the scenes A_RON TV footage for his new group he’s working with, The Wonder Broz (Brothaz). I’ve known Ukon for a minute, since my djing days with the New Boyz. He does a lot of heavy work in the music/entertainment biz with managing the New Boyz and doing some production/writing work for some of the hottest artists in the game. The Wonder Broz are Nick Cannon’s newest addition to his label, NCredible, and have a catchy track produced by Jhalil Beats (famous for production on Chris Brown & Tyga’s mixtape) called “Chitty Chitty”. It’s a trip that this video made it to World Star; everything thats anything in hip hop culture is on Worldstarhiphop.com. Artists premiere their albums, their music videos and mixtapes on the site, as well as offering a daily dose of whats hot (and not) in the hip hop world. It was even voted #1 Hip Hop Website, according to the latest edition of The Source magazine. Big shouts to Ukon and The Wonder Broz for getting it on World Star! And an even bigger shoutout to the dude behind the lens, my camera man/editor Brando!

by DJ A_Ron on Sep.25, 2010, under Nightlife
Sharks Club was thee place to be at on Thursday, Sept 23rd! Myself and my dude Troof Be Told shut the club down with an epic performance. He performed his 2 hottest singles out right now “Go Hard” and “Make A Scene”. The club was suuuuuper packed and they just about hit capacity right before we went on at midnight. It was definitely a fun night, shoutouts to the Up Top Promotions family for having us!
A Night out at Sutra with New Boyz…
by DJ A_Ron on Sep.19, 2010, under Nightlife
On Friday night I had the night off and heard my lil homies were performing at Sutra in Newport so I thought I’d give them a call and come through to support. I met up with them in the parking lot and we all walked in through the back of the club. The place was stuuuuuupid packed when we walked in and right then I knew, tonight was going to be bananas!! The boyz performed their 3 hits “Break My Bank”, “You’re A Jerk” and ended with their other platinum single “Tie Me Down”. After their performance, we all just chilled out til the club shut down. It was a fun ass night, as you can see in the video! Shouts to the Creative Source Group for always throwing the livest parties in the OC!
